Closed, they give near-blackout darkness, the strongest heat and sound insulation of any shutter style, and a warm, characterful finish that suits period properties beautifully. Open, they fold neatly back to the sides of the window like panelled joinery.

Solid shutters can be built full-height, as café-style half panels, or tier-on-tier with solid panels below and louvres above — a classic combination that keeps privacy and warmth at the bottom of the window while daylight streams in at the top.
