Why? Because they simply don’t live up to the standards our customers deserve.

The Problem with MDF in the UK Climate

The UK’s average humidity hovers around 50% (more in Grimsby & Cleethorpes!) and in rooms like bathrooms, kitchens and utility spaces, that figure can be far higher. While MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) may seem like a cost-effective option at first glance, it absorbs moisture over time, leading to swelling, peeling, and visible damage.

We’ve seen it first-hand. In fact, one of our most striking examples is a photo of a once-white MDF shutter where the coating has completely peeled away, exposing the damaged core beneath. It’s a stark reminder of why we’ve moved on from MDF entirely.
