When choosing your plantation shutters, one of the key decisions is the size of the louvres — the horizontal slats that tilt to control light and privacy. We offer three louvre sizes: 63mm, 76mm and 89mm.
All three sizes function in exactly the same way, giving you full control over light and airflow. The difference is purely aesthetic, so it comes down to the look you prefer for your home.
63mm Louvres
The smallest louvre option gives a traditional, classic appearance. With narrower slats and tighter spacing, 63mm louvres create a refined, detailed look that works particularly well on smaller windows or in period properties where a delicate finish is desired.
76mm Louvres Most Popular
Our most popular choice, 76mm louvres strike the perfect balance between a classic and contemporary look. They offer a clean, versatile appearance that complements most window sizes and interior styles, making them a great all-round option.
89mm Louvres
The largest louvre size creates a bold, modern statement. With wider slats come slightly larger gaps between each louvre, which allows more light to flood in when open and gives a spacious, contemporary feel. These are an excellent choice for larger windows and open-plan living spaces.
Which Size Should I Choose?
There's no right or wrong answer — it's all about personal preference and the look you're going for. If you're unsure, our experts are happy to bring samples to your home so you can see the difference in person. Most of our customers opt for 76mm, but all three sizes look fantastic when installed.
